4 Keys to Perfect Nutrition

Imagine eating an apple and feeling satisfied and energetic for hours afterward.

Imagine not remembering the last time one of your friends and family was sick or died from anything besides old age.

While death and disease are a natural consequence of the Fall, we can certainly minimize their impact. It used to be that  people would die of old age, and now people die after prolonged convalescence or as a result of disease. The maximum lifespan for mankind is estimated to be 120-140 years (which hasn’t changed since the Creator’s injunction prior to the Great Flood), yet the average life expectancy in America today is only 75.5 years old, up from 58.8 in 1915. This increase in longevity is mainly due to improved survival rates from birth, not that many people are pushing the envelope for old age. Living to the ripe old age of 100 is still considered an amazing anomaly by most people these days, and a long HEALTHY life is almost unheard of. The fact is, while we have been able to double the life expectancy of dogs over the last few generations through adding 40 minerals to commercial dog food, we have not seen a similar increase in human longevity.

So, why the disparity? I submit to you that we are “running out of gas,” so to speak. Although we are eating food and “food stuff,” we are lacking vital nutrients for wellness and longevity, leaving our “tanks” empty. But we are not without a solution. I believe there are at least 4 Keys to Perfect nutrition:

1. Nutrient-Dense Soils

Dr. Jordan Rubin says:

“The answer to our health problems is right under our feet; it is in the soil.”

Man was formed from the dust of the earth, and interestingly, the composition of minerals in a healthy human body parallels that of healthy soil (1),(2):

Yet, the FORM of these minerals differs between soils, plants, and creatures. We learned in elementary science classes that plants have the amazing ability to make their own vitamins and convert minerals from the soil into useable forms for insects, animals, and humans to consume. Dr. Bernard Jensen wrote that the more “highly evolved” an organism, the more “highly evolved” are the minerals found in that organism as well, meaning that minerals take on different forms as they are processed by living organisms from elemental forms.

The human body was not designed to extract useable minerals from soil and rocks. In order to be healthy and live a long life, on a daily basis we need a minimum of 60 essential minerals that have been converted to the proper form by plants and animals. As such, anemic soils create diseased plant and animal life. But this has not always been the case!

Once upon a time, before industrialized farming, soils were rich with nutrients and humankind was able to get the nutrients needed for health and longevity from the plants and animals nourished by these soils. Food was not only filling but satisfying. Animals did not "crib" or experience pica because they were able to get the nutrition they needed from foods. People did not have cravings. The Garden of Eden was a paradise, and the human race has always strived to return to this state on many levels, with longevity being one. I believe we have available what we need to reach our maximum health and lifespan as a race:

“The soil is the ‘creative material’ of most of the basic needs of life. Creation starts with a handful of dust.” --Dr. William A. Albrecht(3)

Replenish the soils, and we will be on our way back toward Eden from the standpoint of health and longevity. Spring is upon us, and home gardening is ramping up. But growing our own food doesn’t necessarily mean increased nutritional values over the grocery store produce department. Using Bloomin Minerals to “fertilize” is a simple way to organically ensure nutrient-dense soils and hence nutrient-dense produce. They are also available in bulk for agriculture and animals, including large-scale poultry or cattle operations. 2. Fermentation & Sprouting

Soaking & sprouting seeds, grains, and legumes is an ancient practice used around the world. Equally, every culture has traditional foods prepared through soaking or fermentation:

Fermentation often carries the connotation of being rotten or decayed, but that is far from the truth! Fermentation is an anaerobic process involving acidic pH which prevents the growth of microbes, while decay requires oxygen and allows microbes to flourish. Another word for fermentation is “cultured.” This sounds more classy, doesn’t it? But either way, the benefits are the same. Sprouting and fermentation:

Fermented or cultured foods are available in most grocery stores nowadays, and they can be quite expensive.  So, I like to make my own. Once you do it the first time, you realize that it is really quite simple and only takes a few minutes. I peruse my refrigerator for produce that is not being used up quick enough, then:

  1. Chop it up
  2. Layer it in a jar with Sea Salt
  3. Cover it in filtered water
  4. Displace water with a smaller bottle inside the jar, pushing down the vegetables so they don’t float to the top and get exposed to the air
  5. Place in a warm, dark place like my pantry
  6. Test every 1-2 days for the flavor I like-- it should have a sour, pickled flavor
  7. Cap it off and place in refrigerator to stop the fermentation process (actually it just slows the process)
  8. Eat 1-2 tablespoons before meals to heal digestion, or with meals to maintain healthy digestion. Start slowly, as too much cultured food at one time can send you to the bathroom in a hurry!

3. Assimilation

I have already written an extensive blog on this subject: You Are What You Absorb: Increase Your Absorption Rate Today! You can eat the best foods on earth, but if you don’t digest, absorb and assimilation those foods, they are little use to you. While covered 10 factors, I did not address the effects of stress on absorption and assimilation of nutrients. The simple fact is that when we are stressed, we do not digest. So an important component of assimilation is related to relaxation and stress management. In addition to the suggestions in the stress management link, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) can reveal how well your body is responding to stress. Minerals are depleted through stress, and the balance between minerals can also be thrown off, often leading to adrenal and thyroid stress as well as an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system. HTMA gives specific data for customized supplementation to get you back on track. Speaking of supplementation…..

4. Supplementation

Let’s face it, none of us eat foods from the Garden of Eden, most of us don’t eat fermented foods on a daily basis, and assimilation is impaired in the majority of Americans in some way. So, my belief is that supplementation is the perfect solution for filling the gaps. But not just any supplementation: Liquid colloids in the correct proportions from whole food sources provide one of the most bioavailable forms of nutrients to the body. Beyond the base-level nutrition provided by colloidal nutrients, herbs can be used to supply phytochemicals to the body in order to produce a specific action. They are also nutrient-dense, providing an added layer of whole-food nutrition to the body.
