Under the Hood: The Mechanics of the Human Machine
Part 2A: Is Your âIgnition Switchâ Faulty?
The Exocrine System
In a sense, the ignition of an automobile can be likened to the many enzymes that begin the process of digestion. âDigestive enzymes break down the food we eat so that it can be used as a source of nutrients and a source of energy.â(1) If you lack digestive enzymes, it is like putting gas into your car but never turning the key to ignite that fuel in order to start the engine. Our bodies are unable to utilize the foods we eat unless they are first processed by digestive enzymes through digestion.
As we age, our human machines produce fewer digestive enzymes than when we are young, and this is why acid-reflux and GERDS become more prominent as we age. Interestingly, âMany researchers now view the aging process and death itself as nothing more than an enzyme potential which has decreased to a level where the living organism can no longer be repaired and maintained in its existing environment.â(2) Insufficient digestive enzymes produces a variety of digestive conditions including:
-
burning sensation after eating
-
bloating, gas, flatulence
-
belching, burping, bad breath
-
undigested food in the stool
-
fatigue
-
weak, ridgy, peeling or splitting nails
Unfortunately, most people, including children, lack digestive enzymes which, in addition to the symptoms listed above, leads to inflammation in both the gut and at a systemic level. If left uncorrected this inflammation can eventually manifest as sensitivities, allergies and autoimmune disorders.
Proton-pump inhibitors like Omeprazole (generic for Prilosec) further reduce enzyme production, only making matters worse, not better! H. Pylori is a serious bacteria that burrows into the lining of your stomach, causing ulcers and even stomach cancer. Hydrochloric acid from digestive enzymes prevents and destroys H. Pylori. Sadly, the allopathic medical thought process is backwards: Their solution for insufficient enzymes leading to acid-reflux is to further suppress enzyme production. And rather than increasing stomach acid to treat H. Pylori, take a powerful antibiotic which disrupts even healthy bacteria in the body. Something is wrong here! The true answer for insufficient enzymes is MORE enzymes, not less! Even more important is to determine WHICH enzymes are right for your unique human machine. Through ZYTO Biocommunication, I can help you find the perfect enzyme or combination of enzymes. This technology takes the guesswork out which enzyme is best for you at any given time because the right enzyme may change over time because our bodies change, and different stages of healing require different enzymes. Without biofeedback, you can make an educated guess about the correct enzyme for you based on the types of foods that cause you digestive distress.
